The American Security Project (ASP) is a non-profit, non-partisan public policy and research organization based in Washington, D.C. Founded in 2007, ASP’s stated goals include fostering knowledge and understanding of a range of national security issues, promoting debate about the appropriate use of American power, and cultivating strategic responses to 21st-century challenges.〔http://americansecurityproject.org/about/〕 ASP researches and publishes a variety of topics framed as issues vital to the national security debate, including on American competitiveness, energy and climate, terrorism, nuclear security, and national security strategy. ==Fields of Research== ASP is heavily involved in climate change and energy security policy research, focusing particularly on fusion energy. It regularly publishes reports on the struggle against al Qaeda, titled "(Are We Winning? )" ASP's nuclear security program has produced the "(Nuclear Security Index )", a layman's guide to worldwide nuclear power.
